Or is windows defender sufficient on its own? If third party is needed what can you recommend (Ive used Avast in the past)

The best thing is to be sensible. If you’re torrenting a boatload of crap then get all you can. If you’re just being a normal person and don’t have a tendency to click on “grannies in your area need love” banners then defender is just fine. Been using it solo since I got W10 and I’ve been fine.
