The monitor is:
BenQ EX3501R 35 Inch Ultra WQHD 100 Hz HDR Curved FreeSync

I'm wondering a few things:
-Will these types of monitors get significantly cheaper in the next few months or years
-Will the freesync work properly on NVidia cards (mainly the 1060 2060 and 2070).
-Will this last for 6+ years with it's higher resolution, FreeSync, High Refresh rate and HDR
-Is this a completely ridiculous and overkill purchase for someone coming from a TN 1080p 60Hz? (probably)

I plan to upgrade but here's my current setup:
CPU: 1700X
GPU: 1060 6gb Factory OC
SSD: 850 pro x2

Solution
1. Predicting the future is impossible. Will prices drop significantly immediately? No, not likely. In a couple of years, almost certainly - assuming 1440p Ultrawide is still relevant & selling, with no indication that it wouldn't be.

2. Unknown at this point, I haven't seen a single mention of that monitor being tested/verified for GSync usable. Best-case, it might do 'ok', but I'd make your decision on the assumption that GSync won't work particularly well - in that instance, you might be pleasantly surprised.

3. The monitor certainly should last 6 years, although a rather random number. Not sure what your question is those? The refresh rate, resolution etc is not going to change/diminish over time. Whether those are...

Whether those are relevant features in 6 years, who knows. The HDR aspect, will almost certainly be outdated by then.

4. Depends on how you look at it. It's a phenomenal step up. Is it 'necessary'? No, of course not. Equally, a 1060 is fairly underwhelming for that resolution/size/refresh rate but, provided you're prepared to manage your in-game settings etc, then it's no a bad buy.
