Is this $3000 pc build ok

ok, so im getting some winnings and i pland to spend it all on a new beastly pc. the winnings are about $3330 but im willing to pay $3400 and then i'll pay extra for the postage. i plan to use the PC for video editing, animating, sound editing and of course, high end gaming. i am going to have a multi monitor setup (about 3 monitors), and i may do some uprgrade down the track ie. another GPU.

i always love to hear recommendations for better parts but i like it to look good. also should i downgrade CPU to the 2830 and upgrade to an ivy bridge-E when they come out next year.

Don't get the 840 unless it's the pro version. The normal one is built differently and is slower and less reliable than an 830.

Other than that, I personally think it's a bloody waste... but if you want to spend all that money, go for it.

Why are you getting three optical drivers??

Also, get the Corsair H100i instead of the H100.

TBH, I would consider most of those items that you're planning to purchase overpriced for a minimal performance boost. Also, one would expect that there would be at least 2 GPUs in a system worth over 3k...

there are 2 of the 7970's and i would get the h100i but pc case gear doesnt sell it. do you know any places in australia i can get it

Get a 750W PSU, 1000W is overkill considering that you will likely never go for more than 2 cards. Also OCZ isnt exactly the best name in PSU's.

Speaking about the cards, the 6GB model is pointless unless your looking to be gaming across six monitors, get the standard 3GB model.

Why would you get a WD Black 2TB when a Seagate Barracuda 2TB is available for $70 less? HDD's all perform the same, there is very little difference between them.

Agreed with Darksable, just get the Samsung 830.

Also for the price of that H100, you can almost get a custom watercooling kit, which outperforms it by a long way. Much better off with this than a H100.

ok, wow thanks for your help, i changes the PSU but went 850 watt as i preferr that room to grow, the balck is meant to be a but faster and more stable. ok i've changed the SSD. i'll see about the custom liquid cooling as your right it costs barely any more and will work better (and i can use it to make my system look more beastly) the GPU i realise you are probably right but, as somone stated one one of my other questions i worry a bit and i have this odd feeling if id downgrade will it be bad, i know it wont but still got that feeling . ig i did downgrade i'd grab the cheaper sapphire as it looks nice and performs around the same as the gigabyte for about the same cost. i do have one question for you tough would, if i downgrade, to switch over to 670's as they cost simmilar and perform simmilar thanks

PS. if you can to make me feel less worried about the downgrade, link some statistics showing that as they make me feel much better

HDD technology has effectively stalled for the time being, for now there is only going to be very small increases in performance from them. Much more energy and money is being put into SSD technology. Even if the Black were faster (according to bench's, the Barracudas are faster than the Blacks), i doubt it would be worth $70. Especially when HDD performance doesn't even matter that much since you have an SSD.

Stick with that Gigabyte 7970, its a Ghz card and has better performance than a plain 7970. They also perform better than a 670 (as of a month ago).

ok, but cant i just overclock the sapphire to same or hire speeds to get simmilar performance to the gigabyte for less cost

The Ghz does mean that it comes with a higher clock/memory speeds yes, but there are more optimizations beyond that. Mainly a different BIOS in the card that leads to the better performance (and no, you cant flash the Ghz BIOS onto a plain 7970).
