Is this a decent setup?

Hey all, just about to order the parts for my new computer.

This is what I have lined up:

Asrock P45TurboTwins2000 motherboard
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 OR Intel Core 2 Duo E8400
G.Skill 4GB (2 x 2GB) PC3-10666 1333MHz DDR3 RAM
Seagate 500GB 7200rpm Serial ATA-II
2 x GeForce 8800GT 512mb (already have one, so thought I would get a dirt cheap second one for an SLI setup)
Antec NeoPower 650W
Antec Nine Hundred Two Midi-Tower
BenQ E2400HD LCD Monitor (to double as a gaming screen for my future PS3 and 360)

What's the verdict? I can't decide between the Q6600 or the E8400, they are both similarly priced... I'll be mainly using it as a gaming rig.

A P45 motherboard does not support SLI, only crossfire. You need ATI video cards for crossfire.

DDR3 gives no benefits over DDR2, except to the company that makes it and charges more for it.

Neopower is not one of Antec's better lines. You want an Earthwatts (EA650) Or possibly Truepower trio.

See my guide, linked in my sig, for a discussion of quad vs. duo that might help you decide.

Shame about the lack of SLI, it said it supports Crossfire/SLI. Oh well, no great loss, one 8800GT by itself will be adequate (for now) won't it?

Wasn't aware of the DDR3 not being worth it until I read your guide.

And thanks for the heads up regarding the power supply, I'll definately change that.

Thanks man that was really helpful, I really appreciate your comments and help!

Hard to say since we don't know what resolution you're using.

Change the HDD to WD Caviar Black 640GB.

Ok changed, and I'm using 1440x900 at the moment, but I'll be going up to 1920x1080 when I get my new monitor.

This is my new setup:

Intel Core 2 Duo E8400
Western Digital 640GB 7200rpm Serial ATA-II-300 HDD w. 32MB Cache (WD6401AALS) Caviar Black
G.Skill 4096MB (2 x 2048MB) PC2-6400 800Mhz DDR2 RAM - 5-5-5-15
Antec 650W EarthWatts
