I have a gtx 1060 sc and am wondering if I should keep my phenom ii x 4 965 @3.6 ghz

I'd recommend you start watching at 1:36, the video below. As you can see, some games are not compatible, due to the CPU's lack of SSE4. You should expect similar frame rates to what he is getting, seeming as the GPU (1070 in his video) is usually at between 30-50% - your 1060 will maybe be 50-75%.

Seeming as you have both parts, the best thing is to make your own decisions as to whether or not it is worth keeping. If it does everything you need, then why not?
