Im trying to get something simple for my wife. She mainly only plays Sims 3 and such. Just looking for a good base to use that I can update the main parts.

I have some unused parts lying around that I can use.

4870 1gb(will be upgraded later)
Corsair psu 700w if needed.
Ram is cheap so I can upgrade if possible down the road.

If anyone has any better ideas please post.

I really have no time/will to build a computer at the moment. Could save a few bucks if I built my own but right now just looking for convenience. Any help is appreciated.

Not bad thanks for the suggestion. If I lived near a microcenter I would probably be building one($100 off just the cpu/mobo alone) but im very far away from one.

But I did find the same tower at staples for $539 which comes to $10 more than microcenter after shipping.

I am a fan of amd but damn near every site/forum swears by the intel processor lol. But the pc you listed is a bump up in every way. Thanks.

Yeah just make sure if you do get one, it is the newer generation of the AMDs, 5400, 5500, 5600, and such. They got a 40% performance improvement over the last generation.

Thats a AMD Quad-Core A8-5500 based system. (1) the cpu is slow (2) the video is slower than a $50 card (3) If you add your own video card then the video is wasted, the CPU is still slow.

If you never intend to upgrade the system you are OK with an A8 based system. If you ever plan to get a graphics card then get a CPU with some grunt (a $50 g530 will torch the A8 for CPU) and get a low even video. The HD7770 is now $110 and that will blow the doors off the A8's video.

Intel Celeron G530 @ 2.40GHz - 2,268
AMD A8-5500 APU - 6,396
these are benchmark scores. I don't understand how you made that inference... These processors aren't even in the same category.

I have actually purchased the CM 6730 last june and seems to be working great.
The CPU is an i7-3770 at 3.40 GHz (8 CPU's).
I have upgraded to an SSD and changed GPU's from GT630 (original) with a GTX 660, however, it seems like the system gets overheated quite a bit and the computer turns itself off when I play World of Tank (online multiplayer game) at max graphics settings.
I was thinking about moving the mobo to a bigger case with better ventilation and more fans.
I'm trying to figure out what kind of mobo is in my current rig.
