Spend an extra 50 and go withthe latest gen. It's not worth it to get an old platform just to keep some DDR3. Ram is cheap these days.
Also, for a GPU update i recommend the RX 480 coming out at the end of teh month.

There's a reason why lists like this are compiled, and people using high end components are encouraged to use a high end PSU.

Think about it, a great case with excellent airflow and a solid PSU are the foundations of the machine, and are usually what people keep when they upgrade their gpu, cpu, ram, and mobo that become outdated. Cases become outdated when the USB 2.0 ports on the front give way to USB 3.0 and so on. However, some people add a USB card to give them that capability, and keep their case for awhile longer.
