the motherboard is pretty overkill but if you want to do some crazy overclocking then it is a good option. This will definitely game better though.
 
That's a really solid build, but I question how much you'll actually benefit from SLI. Have you got plans to upgrade your monitor? Because if not, I think you might find SLI more trouble than it's worth.

A single 980ti is pretty capable of handling just about every game at 1080p@144hz. As long as you get a motherboard and PSU that can handle the second card down the track (which particularly Rhezner's build has), it's super easy to add the second card later. Why not start out with a single card and then if you're not happy with the results, pick up a second 980ti then?

I'd go Rhezner's build (with the cheaper RAM, cheaper and more headroom on the PSU and 850 Evo - pro is not really any benefit), but start out with one 980ti myself.
