I'm looking to build a micro atx gaming pc (first ever build) that is capable of running the latest games at fast speeds and high settings. I have put together a shopping list and just wanted some conformation weather it is a good build and if all the parts are compatible.

How does this look?

-MSI GeForce GTX 960 Gaming 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card

-Intel Core i5-4670 3.40GHz (Haswell) Socket LGA1150 Processor - Retail

-Asus Z87 MAXIMUS VI GENE Intel Z87 (Socket 1150) DDR3 Micro ATX Motherboard

-Crucial MX100 256GB SATA 2.5” 7mm SSD + 9.5mm Adapter (CT256MX100SSD1)

-Western Digital Caviar Green 1TB SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache - OEM (WD10EZRX) **SINGLE PLATTER** HDD

-Avexir Core Red Series 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-21000C12 2666MHz Dual Channel Memory Kit (AVD3U26661204G-2CIR)

-BitFenix Colossus M Micro ATX - Black

-Corsair Builder Series CX 500W V2 '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply (CP-9020047-UK)

Thanks for any help =)

next time i recommend you use http://pcpartpicker.com/ it is the preferred layout for this site and will help you maximize build efficiency and cost. without it we cant see if there is better performance items for less money with out tedious research which quite frankly no one has time for.

Over all your build looks good but your PSU is of low quality. It is the heart beat of the whole system and should not be taken for granted.

to expand on what he said your mother board is to over the top for your build. you cant overclock that cpu so there is no point in getting a mobo intended for overclocking. As far as ram dont spend more on higher MHz ram, it wont do anything.
