Hey guys!

I wanted to know whether a GTX1070 coupled with i5-6600K with a vs550 or GTX 970 4GB with i5-6600K but a HX750i is better?

Here is my build:

Corsair Carbide SPEC-01 Mid Tower.
ASUS Z170 PRO GAMING
i5-6600K
8 GB 2133Mhz Ram
GTX 970
H100i Cpu cooler
HX750i

or with GTX 1070 and Vs550?

Keep in mind, I perhaps would upgrade the GTX 970 later on.. But for how long will 750W suffice?

Does my motherboard, asus Z170 pro gaming, leave enough room for expanding and upgrading in the future?

I'll avoid vs550 then. Thanks!

my overall budget is around 2100 dollars. But that is my threshold. I live in Denmark. I reckon the prices to be a little more expensive.

But that aside. If I go GTX 970 and HX750i the overall build will be: 1778,83 dollars.

If I go GTX 1070 and HX750i the overall build will be: 2045.

Which PSU's are good?

EVGA SuperNOVA 750 G2,- $132,82
EVGA Power Supply 650W GOLD - $132,33
EVGA SuperNOVA 850 G2, 850W PSU - 162,37.

HX750i PSU is - 182 dollars.
AX860i PSU is - 251 dollars.

I heard EVGA makes a lot of good psu's.

To summarise:

my budget is around 2100 dollars.

With GTX 970 and HX750i my PC is 1778 dollars.
With GTX1070 and HX750i it is around 2038.
GTX 970 without psu: 1594,17 dollars.
GTX1070 without PSU: 1860,71

This leaves about 500 dollar headroom, with GTX970, and about 240 with GTX1070.

Any good PSU's?

Hi :) ive read your post and I believe my suggest build is within your budget, please let me know if not and I will alter it for you.

Taking the OS and monitor into account, (mouse and keyboard, I will find somewhere else)
The Monitor is 175,82 dollars.
OS is 132 dollars.
For DVD: 30 dollars.

So around 338 more. With the build suggested it is around 200 (it is 1686,22 dollars here) more expensive on the website I am looking at.

1686,22 + 338 = 2024.

A little too expensive, I think. Thanks for suggesting! I will take yours into consideration tho.

Is this Good?

GTX1070 + i5-6600K + EVGA SuperNOVA 750 G2 = 1993,53. Is the 750W good for expanding and upgrading? I don't want to draw too little power from the PSU, making it run where it is less efficient.

Around 50% load it will be most efficient, I reckon.

the GTX 1070 i5-6600k and EVGA 750W G2 will be a very good build yes, and 750W is more than enough for upgrades for the future :)

Thanks!

Btw, do you reccomend ASUS GeForce GTX 1070 ROG Strix Gaming or MSI GeForce GTX 1070 Armor OC.

ASUS being £40 more expensive.. The overclock version is 50£ more expensive for asus. (Asus: 649.) while (MSI: 576)

I think I take MSI, since it has Overclock.

With Asus non-clock version: 2038 dollars.

https://www.komplett.dk/wishlists/2e43e348-0cc2-42db-a347-7a563a4b8944 (build)

https://www.komplett.dk/wishlists/305d871e-6e0d-4d53-b20f-073fe2b21a67 (build)

with MSI, it is: 1926,45.

assuming MSI is best, is HX750i or the EVGA best?

Personally I love MSI stuff so I would go with that one but that's personal preference, and the EVGA G2 is better than the HX750i :)

Ok, I go with MSI. The Asus has 3 fans tho.

But here is my build:
ASUS Z170 PRO GAMING
i5-6600K
8gb 2133Mhz ram
GTX 1070
H100i cpu cooler.

Case: Corsair Carbide Spec-01

Is my motherboard good for upgrading? anything I missed?

how much upgrade can 750w handle? what is its threshold?

The EVGA G2 750w is a VERY good psu. It has a 10yr warranty too.

I prefer the Asus Z170-A to the Asus Z170 Pro Gaming

You may as well get faster RAM. Usually the price difference is negligible between 2133, 2400, 2666, 2800, and 3000mhz

I don't recommend getting the i5 6600k and an expensive water cooler. You could probably get an i7 6700k for about the same price.

But if I go with i7-6700K, I will need some good cooling for it. which means I will have to pay 100 more for my build..

Hmm what do you think..

i7-6700K with GTX 970.
or

i5-6600K with GTX1070. ?

Going GTX1070 and i7-6700K with the water cooling kit, is a little over my budget. (by around 100-200 dollars)

I can do GTX970 with i7-6700K

You don't need the water cooling kit for the 6700k. A $25 Cooler Master 212 Evo would be perfectly fine. I really recommend the CRYORIG H7 or H5 for $35 and $45 respectfully.

I would rather have the i7 6700 (non k)with the stock cooler on a B150 motherboard and a GTX1070 for CHEAPER than an i5 6600k + $100 water cooler and a fancy Z170 motherboard and GTX1070.

I would even take the regular i5 6600 on a B150 or h170 motherboard and GTX1070 and pocket the extra $200.

Basically, you're investing a lot of money into being able to overclock, and overclocking is not going to make very much impact.

That's why I said earlier that an i7 6770k + $25 cooler is a better option for about the same price as the i5 6600k + $100 water cooler. The i7 is already clocked to 4.0-4.2ghz and also offers hyperthreading which is much more useful that overclocking.

I am thinking in the long run. I want stable temperatures and cooling. So I think I will go with i5-6600K, with GTX 1060, and save the extra 100$

But Idk if i5-6600K and GTX 1060 will bottleneck. Is GTX 1060 weak for the i5-6600K? I am more concerned about my gpu bottlenecking my cpu, now.

Can I run max settings 1080p on a i5-6600K and gtx 1060 strix?

I have not purchased yet.

I am weary on the PSU.

EVGA 750 G2 is cheapest / perfomance wise. - 134,33 dollars.
RM750i is neither cheap but on the expensive / medium side. - 171,68 dollars.
HX750i is the most expensive - 186,63

Asus Z170 Pro seems like a good motherboard for upgrading possibilities.

For how long do you think my build would last in the future if I upgrade it? Like if one day I decide to upgrade to GTX 1070, then GTX 1170, etc. How far in the future?

Go with the EVGA G2 750w gold.

Get the 1070 now. Don't buy a 1060 now if you plan to upgrade to a 1070 later.

Also, you don't absolutely HAVE to have an expensive z170 motherboard and k model cpu. If it were MY money, I would get an i7 6700, H170 motherboard, and GTX1070.

I think I will go with Noctua NH-D15 CPU instead of H110i. Are there any good Noctua cooling setup that does better than the H110i, yet safer, quieter and cooler?

But I am concerned as to how much stress/strain it will put on the motherboard. And for my ram sticks, and PCIe slots.

I assume a Noctua NH-D15 CPU is better than a H110i, or am I wrong? I want best price to performance.

Is it better to go i5-6600K and MSI GTX 1070 Gaming, 8 GB 2133Mhz ram, and a Noctua NH-D15 CPU cooler. Instead of paying 100$ for a water-cooler.

But I want to know whether Noctua NH-D15 CPU really is good, and whether it is as good as a H110i?

actually. i5-6600K has only like 200Mhz more in comparison to i5-6600, and I save 20$. Non-k can go from 3,3 Ghz to 3,9. While The K version starts from 3,5 Ghz. The difference seems negligible.

But I want to ask, is the Noctua NH-D15 CPU cooler suitable for overclocking? Will it get in the way of PCie slots?

Is it too big, does it get in the way of PCIe slots and RAM? Can I keep the top fans and rear fan?

Is it quiet? safe? does it cool the CPU down very good?

I have changed to 750D. Sorry for not telling. So here is my build:

Case: Corsair Obsidian 750D.
PSU: EVGA 750 G2.
SSD: Samsung 250 GB
HDD: 1 TB Barracuda.

Mobo: asus z170 pro gaming (H170 is 10$ cheaper)
CPU: i5-6600K
RAM: 8GB 2133 Mhz
GPU: evga 1070.

I hear good things about Noctua NH-D15. In terms of NH-D15, the trade-off is its size.

What kind of RAM will I not be able to install, if I go with NH-D15? And what about the GPU, and the Top fans?
