If you plan on overclocking, I would get a better motherboard. The ASRock 970 PRO3 has 4 + 1 power phase design which is pretty weak. Typically the rule of thump is more phases = higher, more stable overclock with lower temperatures. While you may be able to overclock with that motherboard, there are better solutions out there.

Eh... I can't. Remember, you get what you pay for. You're welcome to look through the AM3+ motherboards and see what power phases they have. It's not impossible to overclock with ASRock 970 PRO3 R2.0 but the VRMs (black boxes around the CPU socket) don't have a heat sink on them for cooling. They are going to run warm in the first place prior to overclocking.
