Though, I'd go with a newer and better intel i5 and a Z97 motherboard, that way you get better technologies and future broadwell support.

You should go intel at this price point , but its indeed a great build that will satisfy your needs
However for 1080p you won't need the 290X , the 290 will be more than sufficient.

You'll require a K version of this processor and a Z97 motherboard which will be more expensive.

If you want an overclocking intel build, sacrifice on the GPU. Get a r9 280x or gtx 770, it'll still play bf4 well on ultra. Then spend the extra money getting the i5 4690k and z97 motherboard to overclock. With the budget mitigated, you might be able to go with an ASRock z97 extreme3 motherboard at least. It'll give you a decent amount of overclocking room.

You can't futureproof a pc. By the time you upgrade your pc, new parts will be in and make you buy a complete new rig.
