And is anything really good coming out that is worth postponing the purchase? Otherwise, I plan to buy all the parts today. It needs to be in the £1850 range (I'm looking for the best performance at this price point). I will also get the Steelseries Apex keyboard and, reluctantly, Windows 8.1. I already have a mouse.

This is the first rig I will ever build and I haven't really been following PC component news/developments.

Thanks.

Not really, but I want a powerful and lag-free PC for general things. I will probably start playing some more games (open world games like Watch Dogs) when I get it though. I don't like FPS games so the keyboard/mouse aren't that important to me.

Nope, I don't do anything particularly intensive.

Solution
For gaming you are not going to like that 11ms response time on that monitor. After making a couple other changes(that wont greatly affect fps), you can get an Asus ROG swift monitor.

It's a bit over 1850, but you could just use the stock cooler and drop the d14 till you want to OC later.

Another option as the 290x is a bit cheaper and does well @ 1440p. Also i put in bigger psu's to allow for SLI/Crossfire if you decide to upgrade later on.

Do you do or use any video editing/rendering/heavy multitasking programs?
