Hi,
This is my first computer build. I don't have that big of a budget, and this is stretching it a little. I would like your opinions on whether this build is good value for money or if I've made sone mistakes in my research. Thanks!

All the ones that i have entered my own value (cost) is on Newegg Australia.

Thank you very much,
Callum

dont forget he'll also be using this for editting, that's where the extra cores from the fx 8320 come in.
and it may be an old CPU, it's still a good CPU, I have one, and I cant complain. I'm quite a gamer and it doesnt slow my games down in any way. it's true that CPU's like the i5 4690k for example will give some extra frames(just a few)
unless you have some very CPU intensive games, and even then it wont struggle to keep up.
also, what will you be using it for?
you can pump some more money in a graphics card if you chose and amd fx 8320 CPU for example.
most ppl say intel all the way, and yes intel is better, but you wont realy notice any difference in gaming with an fx 8320 or that i5. maybe a few fps at most, but you'll make up with that by getting a better GPU

im going to be using it for bit of games, but really all rounder. Little video and photo editing too.

with that budget I would look into getting an fx 8320 CPU with the asus m5a97 r2.0 motherboard(not the LE one but the one I typed down)
as for the PSU list, anything from tier 1 and 2 will do, with tier 1 being the best.
tier 3 is useable but not recommended.
also, the 4 extra cores from the fx 8320 wil come in handy if you are rendering etc.

you can also get some more graphics card power by getting an r9 285 or r9 280x for around the same price.

it's still over your budget but it should give you some more power
and wouldnt you want a bigger HDD seeing as you will be doing some editing?

Nice choice of PSU and GPU (we chose same GPU). I'd pay the $10 extra for XFX Gold myself, but that's a solid unit too.

OP though, dropping to a 8320 for the sake of $40-$50 is a pretty sad choice to make IMHO. Slower, hotter, much older tech. If your budget is really tight, it's definitely the way to go. But I'd wait a couple of weeks if find the extra $50 from somewhere if it were my build, personally.

. Just been doing some research on psu's for $100 (£50) i can buy the XFX Ts Series 550w Gold Certified Psu... Worth it??

that is a very good power supply yes.

You make very reasonable points and maybe I am being unfairly harsh on the FX CPU. It's just the IPC and efficiency are so far behind. It may well never matter to OP at all and the 8320 will do the job for a cheaper price. It's not a choice I'd make myself, but you're right, it's not a bad choice objectively.

Whoops that best answer was accident but u diserve it haha -
The editing is just a hobby, not intense and not very often. So :/ idk - i think for the extra little $40 its worth keeping the intel, but if you've got suggestions about graphics card and psu. I thinks its easier to find comparable parts for intel. - I think ill use that Antec PSU. Suits my budget better
