Is this a good build?

It's a solid build for gaming (a little short of RAM for AAA stuff in a couple of years, but that's upgrade-able anyway), though you might want to add at least a 120GB SSD for the OS. You'll also want the OS, whichever you prefer.

Great sounding gaming and multi-tasking build, I would suggest in descending order of priority:
_ Adding at least a 250 GB SSD preferably M.2 PCIe 3.0x4 (up to 3.4Gb/s read and 1.5 Gb/s write)
SAMSUNG 970 EVO M.2 2280 250GB PCIe Gen3. X4= $110>> https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820147689&cm_re=samsung_970-_-20-147-689-_-Product
- Adding 8GB of memory (same brand and frequency) for future proofing multitasking needs
- Upgrading storage hard drive to 2TB 7200 RPM for snappier file transfers.
Enjoy building and gaming :)

I am on a $1,000 budget and my father said it is okay.
$1,017 for everything.
Then in the future i may add the SSD.
