I have this potential build for my personal pc:
Motherboard: Asrock b450m pro4
Cpu: Ryzen 5 3400G
GPU: Vega 11 graphics
RAM: 8gb ddr4 ram (not sure which exact one to purchase yet)
Storage: Samsung 970 EVO 500gb m.2 ssd
Case: Masterbox Q300L
PSU: (can you guys help with this one?)
Cpu cooler: Noctua NH-L9i (will the AMD stock cooler work?)
Other: 3 120mm case fans from the brand Uphere

Is this a good budget build for casual gaming and maybe some 720p 30fps streaming? Also, is there a possibility that I could get a motherboard with the AM4 socket and DDR3 Ram? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks so much to everybody!

Solution
gotcha. the motherboard has a chip, the BIOS. its like the OS for the motherboard. it is software and is free from the maker. if your board has an earlier version of the BIOS firmware installed it will need to be flashed (flashing is the act of writing data to a BIOS chip - a software update in essence) the tools and software are readily available should you need it. the steps are well documented in the motherboards manual

the RUB: if you do need to flash the BIOS to support that CPU you WILL need a supported CPU to perform the Flashing with. this is why I brought it up you MAY need another CPU just to make the board ready for the CPU you want.

I instructed you to look at the BOX and get the right version to avoid...

  1. looks alright so far. IDK about the streaming but but gameplay should be fine, do not expect to max the settings in everything.
  2. not really no. the memory controller ic built into the CPU, if you were to hobble that CPU with DDR3 the performance would be on par with a labotomy, that architecture, Ryzen 3, loves it the bandwidth. get a pair of sticks in a kit, a single stick is a bandwidth killer, go dual channel from the out.
PSU CX series by corsair with the grey label, S12II (not the S12III- way different unit) by seasonic or the m12II evo by seasonic (again not the III series) are my go to budget units.

cooler and CPU are both rated at 65W, DO NOT OVERCLOCK with that cooler. on par but smalklker than the stock cooler, stock cooler can OC a bit, more than the noctua which is meant for much smaller cases.

Very casual esports gaming yeah. Streaming with a 4 core cpu and 8GB of RAM, I seriously doubt that. 4 core CPU should be a last resort in 2019 as they are already not recommended for AAA games. Definitely depends on what you are trying to play but I’d save some money and buy a better setup. Spending way too much for a SSD for this type of build. What is your budget and we can try to help you out?

Well this is all just kind of hazy. I’ll maybe ask for some stuff for Christmas, but I’m thinking of buying things like the cpu and ram used. I mostly really have a budget right now, but I’m guessing $400 with buying some things used. Is there a way I can put 10-12gb ram in here? Thanks

I won’t be doing any overclocking, thanks!

This is what I would aim for. For $400 I’d buy an Xbox one and call it a day. $400 is a waste on a computer IMO. You’ll be wanting something new in a year and it’ll be a waste of money.

Hmm... okay. I already have an Xbox I just want something close to an equivalent because I like most games on mouse and keyboard.

Here is my take on a $400 ish build. You can add a discrete graphics card at a later date.

What Power Supply should I get? I'm guessing a small like 430w one right?

I made a couple changes for better parts. I’d get the 550 watt for the ability to add a GPU in the future.

as it is yes a 400-450W unit would fill the bill. if you add a GPU later you may as well plan for it by getting a bit more power in reserve now. I suggest a 550W unit, you can add any GPU to that system and a 550W would power it all.

I don't understand why you suggest a QLC drive over a TLC drive when they cost the same?

Nice budget built, it will perform the best for its money BUT:
-To make it run its best you need 16GB 3200Mhz Dual-Channel RAM. RAM is crucial for APU build cause its the GPU's memory (set at least 4GB to the VRAM). Also an overclock to 4.2Ghz will help but you need a nice cooler.
-The stock cooler is good if you are not planning on overclocking.
-You can go with 8GB RAM , only if you play esports titles and simple older games . You can set a 2GB VRAM, (and remain 6GB RAM which is the minimum) BUT ALWAYS DUAL CHANNEL WITH 2666+ SPEED.
-You can cheap out on ssd. 970 Evo is way good for this budget build.
-Even a 300w psu will handle the system, but I would go for a branded 450W (at least) 80+ bronze so it can handle future upgrades. (Corsair CX450M)

Could I throw I in used 500gb ssd from an old computer into this build?
