[SOLVED] Is this a good combination for an upgrade?

Solution
If the box on the Gigabyte ROG Strix B450 F Gaming says 'AMD 3000 Desktop Ready' then you have no issues, like it does on this page just above the picture, it says it does but double make sure!!!!.....If not then it is not easy as you need an older chip to first update the bios and then I would suggest another option...

If not then to avoid any issues go for this but it costs a bit more:

Sorry about the delay in getting back...my kids took over.

The 3600 based system is good but if you can go DDR4 3200 oreven better 3600 especiallly as the price should be very close and Ryzen will make use of it.

Secondly the B450 is perfect but remember it needs a BIOS update before the 3600 will work. On a X570 there are no issues.

Thanks for the reply,

I was actually considering the 3200MHz RAM but thought to stick with the original thought of the 3000, but do thinking about it, I think i'll change my mind to the 3200MHz.

Does the BIOS update take a while and is easy to do? I have never done this before.
Thanks

Do you know of any places in the United Kingdom that sell this motherboard with then "Ryzen 3000 ready" sticker on the actual box itself? I think it would be definitely easier for me to buy one with that sticker on.

Thankfully I am in the UK myself and will double check. It might take me a day as I will check with both Scan and Overclockers by calling them....
Thanks!
If it comes to it, I might have to just buy an X570 for the sake of it being easier and also it's a brand new board which is a positive

Personally if it was me, I would just bite the bullet and get the X570 motherboard as it will be far less headache and better for any future Ryzen CPU drop in....
Exactly what I was thinking, X570 would be the better option for me I believe. The X570 board that you linked, would that be the best fit for me?

That board will be absolutely fine for the 3600.....if you could stretch a little more this one has been reviewed well and has a 10 phase VRM which will come in handy if you ever upgrade to the more heavy weight Ryzens in the 8 and 12 core range and it is still not that bad on the price.
