I am building a computer for my mum and little brother, but mainly for mum. At the moment my mum is using a very old Pentium R PC that takes ages to do anything but she insists it still is fine for what she does, although I would not say the same. She has a 60GB harddrive and is only using 20-30GB of it and 700mb of RAM

What mum does : internet browsing, check emails, microsoft word, other mum stuff

What little brother does : play games such as counter strike 1.6/source/GO, minecraft, (not really high end gaming)

I am not sure if this would be the perfect combination for both long lasting durability and performance.

Parts :

CPU : AMD FM2 AMD Richland A6-6400K (Radeon HD8470D)

Motherboard : AMD FM2 MSI A55M-E35 AMD Socket FM2

Memory : DDR3 G.SKILL F3-16000CL9D-4GBRM Gaming Series-Ripjaws PC3-16000 DDR3 2000 MHZ (2X2GB)

Storage : Samsung SSD 840 Evo 120GB SSD

Power Supply : Seasonic 350W SS-350ES 80 Plus Bronze

Optical Drive : LG DVDRW Sata 24x Box Internal

Case : NZXT Source 210 Black

I have a budget of about $300-$350 and at the moment these parts fit into that price range.

I was thinking of building an intel system with either G3220 or i3 4130 that i would know would be perfect for mother but not sure if the integrated graphics are good enough for little brother's gaming habit.

Thanks

Based on what your mom uses this for this build is excellent. I think you hit it right on two things. A dual core is plenty for her usage. And the SSD will give new life to everything. It will make her very happy. I wouldn't change a thing. Nice job.

If anything you could go for a APU. A10-6800k.

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-F2A55M-HD2 Micro ATX FM2 Motherboard ($45.38 @ Newegg)
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($45.99 @ Newegg)
Storage: Crucial M500 120GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($72.00 @ Amazon)

If your mom was fine with her current setup...this will be worlds apart. As far as your little brothers gaming, integrated graphics on the APU's aren't bad at all so unless hes playing anything really graphic intensive its plenty.

This should perform normal tasks quickly and play all of the games on low-medium settings, at a lower resolution than 1080p.
