I'm trying to read reviews and opinions for XPS models, and they are all over the place. Would be used for everyday browsing, work programs, streaming, and minor gaming. I seen the deal posted on dealnews, and several people seem to say that either DELL is trash, or you can get a cheaper alternative for what comes with this elsewhere. So is the $250 off just a marketing ploy? I have no idea what the internals would roughly add up too in a BIY machine.

Dell regularly lists everything on sale, so the $700 price is more or less right. I have used many Dell's in the past and now, the only complain I ever had with one of them was the PSU gave up after probably six years.
