HP OMEN 880-037c Desktop Computer; Intel Core i7-7700K Processor 4.2GHz; NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 8GB GDDR5; 32GB DDR4-2400 RAM; 256GB SSD+1TB HDD

Found this desktop in the microcenter near my home for $1299, really itching to buy this given it has a SSD and 32 gb of RAM. Only concern is that it has a 1070 and not a 1080

I just bought a QHD 144hz G sync monitor, wlll the 1070 be able to push 100+ fps on QHD for games like fortnite?

If not I don't mind playing at 1080p, but i just want ot know if 1299 is a good deal for this desktop?

Solution
I think the deal is decent, 32 gb is overkill.

IMO , it should handle your fortnite needs on qhd 100 fps. if you are willing to tone the settings to medium.

But it can run 1080p at max probably right? (I will probably do 1080p on max over 1440 on medium)

I found out that this has a bronze rating 500w power supply ( dont know the brand). Is this enough power to run 7700k + a 1070 card?

Yeah I would definitely ask about that. I have a rule that if you cannot find information about the included power supply, do not buy, and I can't emphasize that enough. Because if they do not include a good PSU, a lot of the time you can't replace it yourself due to non standard form factors, and some might even void your warranty if you attempt to. A lot of the times most OEMs include power supplies of questionable quality. Dell has got a lot better about that, and I think HP has followed suit but a good majority of vendors out there do not include good PSUs with their systems.

Thats a better pc for the same money . as well as ditching the generic & proprietary hp motherboard ,you get a fully fledged msi z370 gaming board & a decent cooler.

You lose 16gb ram & the secondary hard drive.
You gain a far better cpu & a 512gb ssd.

It'll cost you what? $40 for a 1tb hard drive extra & youve got a much more future proof system.

It’s not a diy prebuilt but a hp prebuilt, expect a bit better quality assurance as these desktop spec do have to a minimum test at the factory prior to production.

1080p gaming should be fine, and psu should work fine for a few years as well. Won’t be overkill but should be adequate .
