Is this a good gaming pc and any improvements?

Here are my specs:

CPU - i5 4570
GPU - r9 280x
MoBo - z87 g41 pc mate
Ram - G Skill 8gb (2x4gb)
HDD - seagate barracuda 1TB
Case - thermaltake commander msi Id
Psu - xfx 550w 80+ bronze
OS - windows 7 Home Premium 64bit
Mouse - logitech g400
Keyboard - cheap (rubber dome I think it's called)
Headset - Asus orion pro

I think that's absolutely everything I'm buying, have I missed anything or any upgrades I can do for no more money, thank you. Also I have a 24 inch 1080p 60hz monitor (already brought)

Try out Pcpartpicker
You should get a i5 4670k with a z87 motherboard. Else get a H87 motherboard. The only reason to get a Z87 motherboard with a "k" processor is to allow overclocking. The cpu you chosen is a non "k" processor
If you are going for gaming performance, as a rule of thumb you want to get the best possible graphics card for your budget. And then you can look for a processor which can run that card well.
In my opinion the CPU is more expensive than it needs to be especially for that VGA card.

Also, look for the system building marathons, they are so good starting points (or you can just buy the exact same thing and you cant really miss with that).

u miss a cpu cooler, get a air cooler. then dont buy a reference gpu cooler, get a msi gaming, asus direct cu or gigabyte windforce versions.
then you could run a pretty silent gaming pc for little extra cost. just get a motherboard with fan control like asus fan expert.
