I have been looking for a new monitor for a while now to primarily use for gaming, not competitive or anything so 1ms response time and 144hz is not necessary. I have been heavily considering buying an ultra wide monitor, specifically the Asus pb298q. So will this be good for gaming? And are there any better, preferably ultra wide monitors for under £400? Thank you :D

ultra wide moinioter at 1080P vertical arnt good for general use hower as they are too squat for that price you can either get a 1440p monitor from qnix for example or even two 1080P displays also if u dont need repose time make sure the display has a ips pannel

First thing to look for would be the type of panel. Most monitors have a TN panel which is ideal for gaming and one of the cheaper ones. Because you're not going for a competitive edge I would reccomend looking for an IPS panel because they have the best viewing angles/picture. Also the refresh rate of a monitor isn't only for gaming. The higher the refresh rate the less motion blur you get with everything. So if you're going for a better picture, 120hz+ would be ideal. If you can afford it, get a 1440p monitor. 5k is out of your price range but if you can swing a 1440p monitor I would get it. But don't get a shitty 1440p monitor with a TN panel with 60hz. A 1080p monitor with an IPS panel at 120hz would look better. So in conclusion, get a 1440p monitor with an IPS panel if you can find one in your price range, but if you have to get a 1080p monitor. Make sure it has an IPS.

I haven't seen any 120hz 1440p ips monitors but I've heard of them like you sa
Code:
id. But I have seen 1080p IPS panels over clocked into the low 100's.
