Yes it is a good board.

From the tier list: "Tier Two: High end. Great MoBo, SLI capable with good enough thermals and power to take up any CPU, not the best for extreme OCing but do OC very well. Have many premium features as well. Quality is good, no known persistent issues."



You can also get the newer Z97M.

What is the benefit of having a z97 chip set?

Improved, better cooling and OC-ability, handles DRAM better, better BIOS, can upgrade down the road to the upcoming Broadwell CPUs

I think I will just stay with the z87 for now because its a about 50 dollars cheaper then the newer version of it.

There is not that much price difference but after all its your decision. I would get the z97 if I was you.
