Hi,

I want to add a 4 bay RAID enclosure to my current setup. My concern is if there will be any performance issues with all the stuff I have plugged in already.

I primarily work with audio & video and looking for the best performance in my circumstance.

The laptop has a total of 1 USB-C (3.1, data only) and 3 USB-A ports and it's currently populated like this:
  • 1 USB-C port has a powered four-port hub, which is populated with 2 lic dongles and 2 ext. SSD's (these almost always in use).
  • 1 USB-A 2.0 has a powered KVM switch plugged in.
  • *1 USB-A 3.0 has a powered ext. 5 Bay enclosure in JBOD for backup use.
  • *1 USB-A 3.0 has a powered single ext. SSD for projects.
So, to add a new ext. enclosure, my initial thought was to purchase a powered USB 3.1 hub and populate it with the *5 bay, *single SSD, and the new 4 bay RAID enclosure.

Will I run into any performance issues with this setup?
Since everything connected is powered, I shouldn't expect any power issues, right?

Misc:
Undecided on raid 0 or 1.
One of the drives that'll be used in the raid enclosure is a 2.5" SSD adapter for an m.2 drive.
