Is this a good plan to connect water cooler tubes?

The connectors are those ribbed type, you know..... The common type, and slip the tube on over it.

I was going to put marine sealant stuff on the connector then put the tube over that so it really makes a water tight seal. Then put a hose clamp on, the screw on type.

Does this sound good? Or is the sealant a bad idea?

Many people use marine sealants as well as silicone sealants specific to submerged applications to do what you're talking about, though it does restrict the accessability to removing the tubing afterwards... in my opinion, if you grab some nice brass hose connectors or some screw-on barbs you're fine... once i can find the links (i was lookin at them the other day...) I'll post 'em

Hit your local hardware store, get some small "ladder clamps" (the type you screw tighten) and gon't bother with the sealants as they will prevent you from replacing the hoses should the need arrise.

I only use those connectors to connect the tubes... and sometimes I add a hose clamp. There is not much pressure on a watercooler so it doesn't need much tube clamps.
