Is this a good power supply?

Hi, I was originally going to get this EVGA power supply that was a 500w 80+ power supply, But I recently found this 625w power supply on amazon http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JEJZ1LQ/ref=s9_simh_gw_p147_d0_i7?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-7&pf_rd_r=0MX0WVEW4S4F4NHQW81J&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=1688200482&pf_rd_i=507846 I already know how many amps and that I need for my system, but I'm just not sure about the brand. I personally have never used a power supply from this manufacture, but almost everyone has rated the power supply with 5 stars.

I'm trying to avoid corsair, most of their power supplies have the mail in rebates to match my budget. I'm using my friends card after I give them the money, so I'm trying to avoid rebates.

Could that XFX that you originally linked me have enough power for a r9 280? My friend gave me a almost full retail offer for my old corsair power supply and I took it. So now I have enough for the 280. I figured with the processor and the video card my whole system would be using about 38-39 amps on the 12v rail. I don't plan on overclocking since I can't carry over the overclocks to the vm that I use

Yeah I kind of figured that, I know newegg and other places really overkill the power supply requirement for video cards.

What was originally going to be a simple $550 work build has turned into a pretty sweet build. I think cost of everything if I include the cpu at the price that amazon lists it as to be around $800, but that is not including the extra phantek cooler that I had laying around for my processor. I might post it to pcpartpicker once I finish.

I orderd A gigabyte 970 motherboard with the 8+2 power phase, 16 gigs of the corsair vengance pro memory, corsair 200r windowed, and the xfx power supply. I saw a deal on an msi 280x for about the same price as the 280 that I was going to buy. Could the power supply handle all of that along with some maybe mild overclocks with the 8350, and the 280x? I also did order my main systems power supply, I got the corsair ax 1500w which I am still in the process of sleeving the cables for, but I'm pretty sure it is going to be amazing in my system.

The reason the gpu manufacturers specify such high wattage is because of crappy psu's. If a crappy psu is called '500' watts, its actual 12v output is usually closer to 430. Eg. The OCZ ModXstreme 500 actual 12v output is only 432 watts. So if a gpu states it needs 500w, in reality it only needs a psu capable of 400w, so psu's like the ocz will work.

The XFX 550 is capable of 44amps at 528watts output. It'll power a 290x on an OC pc with no problems. It's that good.
