Is this a good price for SSD?

Hi, I'm curious to know if the price on this SSD right now is a good for its capacity. Right now the Samsung 840 Pro Series MZ-7PD256BW 2.5" 256GB SSD is on sale right now on Newegg and with the use of a promo code, the price would be $194.99.

So is this a great deal (still new to SSDs)? Or should I wait a year or two when prices would fall even lower? Or have anyone gotten even a better deal than this? Any response will be appreciated. Thanks.

For the 256GB Pro, that's not bad.

Waiting a year or two? Entirely up to you. But once you do, you'll kick yourself for not doing it earlier.

Obviously, it is entirely up to you. But an SSD can completely transform the whole PC experience.

Generally, I use my computer for basic tasks and gaming on a occasional basis. Currently I'm using a standard mechanical HDD 512 GB (Seagate), and it's been running good for about 2 years already. It's not slow or anything but maybe I was considering in upgrading to SSD because of how popular it's becoming now.

For now I want something that is the best bang for my buck. I've waiting on the prices for a little while now and I'm just wondering if this is one of those great sales I can snatch.

A better choice might be the 840 EVO. Around $150, and no real speed difference from the PRO.
Once you use one, you'll never go back.

Ah ok. Can you explain a little bit more detail on what is the main difference or importance between the EVO and PRO version? Like why is there an almost $100 jump between them?

The EVO is the newer model. Slightly different (less expensive) technology.
In regular use, you'll see no difference.
