Is this a good PSU

Solution
That PSU will work very very well with tha build!
780 ti consumpts about 270W at it's max usage, 2 of them will take you max 500W at the time.
Overclocked i7 will take 120W ( I'm talking in max W consumption )
The rest of the system 75W+-

You are at 600-700W maximum power consumption.
A 850W would be definitelly my choise!
80+ gold plus and about 150-200W reserve, that's very optimal and you won't have any probs with it.
BTW *love XFX, great choise
:)

XFX 850W G+ fully M. will work well with your spec!

*update :

2x 780 ti? That's the best NVIDIA's card ATM!
That will max everything in the next 5 years, not the question you should be asking! :)

what are all the components in your dads build? motherboard, cpu, graphics card, harrdrives, fans, etc.

but a quick answer is that as long as you aren't having more than 2 graphics cards then 850w power supply is overkill for a system. if you have one graphics card then you can do just fine with a 500w power supply, but i'd go with 650 80 plus bronze certified power supply just for safety. you can always find those on sale for the 60 dollar range on newegg.com

BUT if you have multiple graphics card and fully loaded with fans and harddrives then you may need more power, i can answer better if you tell me all the components in the computer.

that is a beast of a computer HOWEVER in my opinion you dont really need 2 of the 780ti, i would understand if you were purchasing a monitor with a resolution of 2560x1440 but your buying a 1080p gaming monitor, it's a bit of a waste to get 2 780ti for just gaming on 1080p, when a single 780ti is MORE than enough.

i do understand that you want to future proof as much as possible but wanting something to last 5+ years just isn't possible with technology moving so fast, in 5 years you will definitly be needing to upgrade your graphics card. Unless you are going to purchase a 30" monitor with a resolution of 2560x1440 then you really dont need 2 780ti's for that small 1080p monitor. it's a waste

oh i forgot the 780ti recommends a 600wat power supply for just one, so maybe get a 1.2k watt power supply instead to be sure

so get a bigger, at least 27" but preferably 30" with a native resolution of 2560x1440 or 2560x1600, monitor with higher resolution or get rid of one of the 780ti's and get a 650 watt power supply 80 plus bronze certified, that's my opinion.

Heyoo

I kinda agree with that *single 1080 monitor, why not?
Depends on their needs, if his dad is k with a 1080p monitor than it's his choise, you can go with 3 monitors maybe, or to get later a UHD definition one ( 4K ).

650W bronze? Oh well..don't want my PSU to explode while gaming lol

Bronze one has 80% efficinecy, that PSU will take 600W max from the wall.
Nobody goes with a 650W PSU with 780 ti's, that's a suicide :)

G sync monitors are not fully out yet, and they are pure for gaming.
You know why there is a thing call G sync? Because not all are getting stable 30+ or stable 60+ fps, someone gets 17 and then looks to the sky and gets 40 fps, That's for those guys.

780 ti's = 60fps stable at any game, G sync is not needed, also the only monitor with G SYNC that is ATM is from ASUS, and it;s a TN panel

No hate mate, I would go for a good 1080 144HZ monitor aswell
