Is the Corsair CX 750M a good power supply to power an AMD FX 8320 and a Sapphire R9 380? How about its reliability and how long it lasts? I'm very nervous for my first build. i look at reviews for all of my parts and people are always posting negative reviews and rarely any positives.

Thanks in advance!!

Far from the best, but also not the worst. Corsair have recently released some better quality CX units, but I don't believe the 750 version is one of them.
The CX750M Typically don't last too long. Couple of years if you're lucky.

Much better off investing in a quality PSU from the outset. Refer here: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-2547993/psu-tier-list.html
Tier 1 or 2 is what you're looking for. All quality units with proven longevity.

As an FYI - if you haven't yet purchased any components, you might want to gather some feedback here regarding all your components, not just the PSU.
There's few tasks where the 8320 would be the recommended solution.

Budget & planned uses would be helpful.

Hey! According to pcpartpicker your cpu plus your gpu take a total of 315W. Assuming the rest of the components take around 100W you'll have a final total of 415W. You don't need a Corsair CX 750M, it's just too much. Plus it is only Bronze Certified. I'd rather pick a 650W gold certified and full modular PSU if I were you. The G2 series of EVGA are well known for it's efficiency and durability as well as reability. I don't know if you are from USA but here it is:

If you have any more questions, feel free to ask. Good luck :)

im confident on everything but the power supply, im afraid that it will fail and its always a possibility it will fry my whole rig. I am on a budget at the moment but heres my list, i dont knoe my mobo off of the top of my head but im sure it will be fine.

AMD FX 8320 @3.5GHZ
Sapphire R9 380 NITRO graphics card
NZXT Source 210 (Black)
the 5400 rpm 1tb hard drive from my old alienware alpha

i will be replacing the drive soon but i have it just as a money-saver for now. i also do not care much about fan noise, i dealt with an alienware alpha next to me for about a year so thats not a problem, as long as it dosent sound like a jet engine im good.

A quality 500W should be all you need for that spec, although the R9 380 recommends higher - a quality 600W unit would be more than sufficient.

Assuming you're in the US, a CX750M is around $80 at the moment, $60 after rebates.

For $60 without rebates, the SeaSonic S12II 620W is a great option:

Otherwise, if you want to deal with rebates, the 750W SuperNOVA B2 SR-71 listed is the best "bang for buck" at the moment.
