1. SSDs do not improve gaming performance - only loading times.
2. Mechanical Hard drives peak around 150 mb/s - so a 500mb/s SSD will be ALOT faster! Even though it is not the fastest SSD out there. My V300 maxes out at 700mb/s and performance/loading times does not feel like they can get any better.

If you are on a budget, the SSD is fine. But try searching the web for a V300 - i got mine for 65 $ (60 EUR) :)

sadly, those numbers are irrelevant in how (nearly) everyone actually uses an SSD. those are peak numbers using a single large file transfer - it's like your car being able to do 330km/h in a (really really) long straight line. nobody cares.

most SSD have similar performance in the 4k random read/write, which is the benchmark that's most representative of how an OS behaves (lots of small files being handled), and there the performance is 20-50 times faster than nearly any HDD. there's also the 4kQD32 (deep queue) read/write performance, which is 30-200 times faster on an SSD than a HDD

basically, it'll make the machine overall feel much snappier, but if the program / game you're using doesn't need to load new info during gameplay, it won't do wonders during that specific time.
