[SOLVED] Is this a good upgrade

I run a i7-3930k I would like to upgrade so was comparing the two with userbenchmark, My gpu is the gtx 980 So would the i7-8700k be a good upgrade while keeping the same gpu?

Yes (up to 1080p resolution) but you would also need new MB and RAM.

Yea I can understand the new mother board and ram cause going from ddr-3 to 4. But would the 980 still idk operate well with the newer processor?

Can't be any worse than with old one, maybe even better.

So utilmately with my current being the i7-3930k
My options are

1. i7-8700k 290$
2. i7-9700k 260

and my brother suggested the
Ryzen 5 5600x for some reason for $410

The 5600x is a much stronger cpu all round and would probably last you longer. Have a look at reviews. If it’s worth paying for is up to you. Paired with a 980 you are not going to notice the extra performance the 5600x offers.

always trust a guy who tells you choose AMD, specially your own brother.
5600x is 50% faster than 9700k. uses 30w less. even though 9700k is octa core, 5600x is still faster.
you don't need onboard graphics that comes with intel, you've already got gtx980.
even 3600x is better and easier/cheaper to find than 5600x.
Don't get mad, get AMD.
