Is this a long-lasting gaming rig? PLEASE HELP

I am just about to build this:

CPU: Intel Core i7 2600K OC'd to 4.2GHz w/Noctua C14 CPU fan heatsink
Motherboard: ASUS P8Z68-V PRO
Graphics card: EVGA GTX 570 (I'll hopefully OC it)
Memory: Corsair Vengeance 2*4GB 9-9-9-24 (I'll probably add another 2 to = 16GB soon)
HDD: WD 750GB SATA3 64Mb
Case: CoolerMaster HAF 922
PSU: Corsair TX750M or HX750

Bottom line, I am just wondering if these specifications will give me max settings/resolutions with good frame rates on the latest and upcoming first-person shooter games for a year or two.

Please HELP! I would also appreciate an answer from someone who is 100% positive.

that should dominate any game for years.
I'd say don't get the 750GB drive though, SATA 3 isn't really useful for physical drives, get a Samsung F3 1 TB drive instead

A 2600k versus a 2500k does not give you any more benefit in gaming.
With a premium heatsink like the noctua, you can OC far higher than 4.2ghz.

Get i5 instead of i7, cause hyperthreading is uselles for gaming

8Gb is enough, as a fact, you could even go with 4GB

@lean no, there have been MANY tests to show that 8GB is very useful in gaming over 4GB on a 64 bit OS.

Go for the 2500k and use the saved cash to get a good heatsink for that cpu then overclock it more. As for the HDD I'd recommend the 1TB WD Caviar Black or going 2 of them in RAID0 for nice performance and space.

As for the gpu, the 570 is a great card however if in the future you want to go SLI AMD currently have fantastic scaling on crossfired 6950/6970 cards.

I was thinking of getting another 750GB HDD for RAID0. Also, I was thinking of getting another 570 for SLI but then I'd have to pay about $350 extra plus I'd have to buy another PSU (850W) for $150-$200, equaling about $500 extra - which is hard for a 15 -year-old high school student

So, what do you think?

Is the discount you're getting with the 2600k cheaper than the base price of the 2500k + the mobo. if not, then I would go for the 2500k...

One 570 should max you out at high settings in all the games on the market..

I've noticed a big difference in my HDD performance after adding a 2nd 500gb WD Black hdd in RAID0. One 570 will be great for the all current games, and in the future you can add a 2nd to pick up performance, or move onto another single card if you choose. Not worth all the extra cash to get SLI at the moment though.

actually I bought the 2600K and the mobo a month ago for $450... I couldn't find a cheaper bundle with the 2500K and this mobo (or a better mobo).

If I needed, I'll buy another 750GB HDD for RAID0 (that's what I was planning on a while ago).


One more thing... I'm gonna OC CPU to 4.4GHz+ and also the GPU to a better clock speed. I'm sure this will improve my frame rate by a good, fair amount.
