Hey!
My PC has had some problems and yesterday just quit. Here's the issue:
Over the past 2 weeks it's been acting very odd after waking from sleep. It would fire up but not power my USB peripherals and there would be no display. I couldn't find a solution so I just got in the habit of shutting it down instead. Yesterday, it went to sleep again, but when I cut the power and went to boot it again, it would not boot.
I've since taken the motherboard out of the case looking for shorts and taken out the graphics card, but it refuses to power.
What's weird is when I fire up the PSU, the power switch on the motherboard and the USB light strip light up for a split second before going dark. Before the issues, these would be illuminated always, even when powered off. The headset also makes a brief screech. Nothing is responsive after that and everything seems to be powered down.
I borrowed a friend's power supply. Mine works on his PC and his doesn't work on mine, so its clearly not a PSU issue. This narrows it down to the motherboard and the processor, both of which are under warranty. Can I assume this is a motherboard issue?
And thanks for your help all these years! This forum has solved so many of my tech problems. This is the only time I've had to actually make an account, so I'll probably contribute instead of sucking up your advice like a sponge =).
