My pc rn is a AMD Phenom ii x4 960t and a gtx 960 2gb and I literally play my games on low settings, its just horrifying. I’m wondering if this rig that I created, if theres anything you would change? Maybe the ram stick speed or cpu possibly? I saw the 9700k is almost as fast as the 9900k and the 9700k is $200 cheaper. All i do is game tbh heres the list of what im looking to get, oh and im also staying away from liquid coolers because i heard you have to do maintenance every 2 years or something which i would forget and ruin my rig.

What resolution and Hz is your monitor?

Don’t mix 2 RAM kits, this can lead to issues. Get a single or 2x16gb or if you must 4x8gb kit but don’t get 2x(2x8gb).

Have you looked at Ryzen options?
It is 1080p and it is a 165hz monitor x2 I actually upgraded not to long ago so u think ill be okay with 2x16gb not 2 sets, just one set of 2x 16 gb and i wanted to stick with intel

what’s better 2x16gb or 4x8gb? I’ve heard it’s better to populate all slots for better performance??

4x8GB is better if your motherboard uses T-Topology memory configuration.

2x16GB is better if your motherboard uses Daisy-Chain memory configuration.

I think that your motherboard uses T-Topology. Because it’s a pretty expensive one.

Still new to pc building and parts dont know the difference but one person says get 2x 16gb ram sticks and now 4x 8gb ram? Which i was originally trying to do was the 4x 8gb

So i will be buying the corsair memory in a week or so, i mean am i good with 2x16gb of ram???

Yes. I think you’ll be fine. But, personally, I’d choose this memory kit because it is a plug-n-play type, so you won’t need to mess around with XMP instabilities:

Kingston HyperX Fury Kit, HX432C18FBK2/32 (2x16GB; JEDEC/XMP: DDR4-3200 CL18-21-21 @1.2V PC4-25600)

It’s not the fastest kit, but it’s very stable!

I personally love hyperx i own their giant gaming pad, keyboard and 2 of their headsets but im trying to get the best that i can especially comjng from a old cpu and a 2gb card lol im suffering. I picked out the corsair vengeance lpx 2x16 gb 3200 mhz, should i go up in speed of ram or is 3200 mhz a decent speed?

Corsair is a good brand.
DDR4-3200 is decent, especially on the Intel platform which is not as much impacted by memory speed as AMD is.

Memory speed bottlenecks the PC only if you have the very best components out there.
Generally the bottleneck is the GPU, the CPU, or the RAM’s amount.

Will i have the bottleneck issue?

Why not get a bit more out of the build for the long term. You will have a cpu upgrade option with AMD whreas the Intel is now a dead end.
