Is this a Virus attached to Steam?

Alright, so I just got back on my PC. The Steam update pulls up, but after that, I see a small whitie window saying it is checking for updates, and at the end it extracts something. Sounds like a virus to me, what do you guys think?

its updating steam let it finish and steam should restart.
if it does it every time you close steam uninstall steam and download the latest version from the steam website.
