Hello, I'm about to order some new stuff for a MB+CPU upgrade, would this work or are there compatibility issues?
Current:
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 3.16 GHz
GPU: Nvidia GTX 650 Ti
MB: Asus P5Q Pro
RAM: 4 GB of DDR2
New:
CPU: Intel Core i5-4670
GPU: Same
MB: Gigabyte GA-H81M-DS2
RAM: Kingston DDR3 8Gb

Later this year I might also buy a new GPU, perhaps a 680 or a 780 if I get to save up enough. It says PCI-Express 3.0 for them though, and I only see PCI-Express 2.0 on the MB specs. Is this an issue?

You think it would be a good idea? I'd like to be able to play Watch Dogs and Star Citizen on medium if possible, and I'm not sure which is the most limiting factor. Would an i3 3340 be good for that? At which point would the CPU bottleneck say, a 680?

Looks good, but you could go for a R9 270 and spend the other cash from the GTX 770 to spend on a SSD. The R9 270 runs all games above 40 FPS. As for the RAM, get 2x4GB. The kingston Fury series are supposedly of higher quality than the regular hyperX series so consider it since it looks better too.

I chose to get a 8 GB bar since that MB apparently only has 2 DIMM slots, so if I want to get 16GB of RAM at some point I don't have to buy a set of two new 8GB bars. Also yep I chose one from the Fury series.
