is this an ok system for 4k gaming or will i need to update it?

All looks good although if it was me i would get 1 GTX980 in place of the two 770s and swap the CPU to an i5 4690k, i7 processors are overkill for any gaming solution. Best of Luck!

Get an i5-4690k or i7-4790k CPU and a Z97 motherboard. Everything else looks fine.

I would say 'no' the 770's are far too weak for 4k.

If you wait for something that might be months away then you're going to miss out on months of good quality gaming and the 980 is a damn good card. I say go for a gtx980 or if you prefer AMD then an R9 290 from sapphire. Best of luck!

Dual 980's, 290x's or a 295 are the current best choices for 4k

Dual 290xs in CF are a much better bang for the buck than two 980s in SLI. The 290xs will cost one-half the price and get near the performance of the 980s. You will need a monster PSU for the 290xs, though.
