Abortion, music, George Bush. What the hell goes this have to do with Pc
Rpg's.

Please if these are the topics of choice somebody wake up the no steam guy
(I'd rather hear his rants).

Posts like this prove Thrasher right (shudder).

Nothing at all. The rpg group is one of several under attack from
twats. You can see which they are because they a) crosspost to a wide
range of newsgroups, and b) one of the crossposted newsgroup is "dead",
receiving no legitimate traffic - that's where they tally the score.
Yes, these sad needy existences compete about who gets the most
replies. The twats currently trolling this ng reside in the
alt.fan.art-bell newsgroup, they've previously used e.g. alt.world and
alt.troll.

The best you can do is to a) not reply to any post that's crossposted
to a group you don't recognize; b) killfile every thread started by one
of the twats - these threads are usually easy to recognize, as they
invariably select inflammatory subjects like abortion or racism; or c)
if you need to reply to a twat-thread, delete the "dead" group from the
crosspost, or you'll be adding to the twats score, helping him impress
the other sad needy twats with how intelligent he is.

Try NWN and some of the mods for a great experience (some in pain...some
in joy)

Also, if you haven't played KOTOR, I highly suggest you try it out.

You may notice these idiots crosspost to everything.

The best thing to do is to set your newsreader to kill anything
crossposted to three or more NGs. That way you won't even see 99% of the
dross. of course, you need a decent newsreader.

It would also help if there actually =were= some interesting crpgs to
talk about. 8>.

Well said. KOTOR2 barely made a dent in this NG while
sonylies/difool posts get a ton of traffic.

Bugs and cut content aside it's still a bonified CRPG.

For this group that might work since there usually is some amount of
decent traffic. But in many groups where the posts are high content but
rare postings that action can be deadly. The regs dont see what new
people see, and therefor dont understand why the postings fall off.

I agree. Just came into some extra dollars and I cant think of what to
spend it on. Both the RPG and the Strategy groups have been quiet. I
might see if I can pre-order Dominions 3 for my strategy fix, and fall
back on free UO servers for my RPG

Ain't that the truth. I'm playing KOTOR2, but don't really feel like
talking about it.
Same graphics, same characters (some with new names), same same - it
feels like I'm replaying KOTOR.

I'll of course post my take of it when I've finished, but that's just
because I'm an opinionated bastard.

My take entirely. I'm on Telos but have succumbed to terminal boredom. I
can't stand the thought of opening another door, stealing any more worthless
stuff, or talking to the same boring npc's. The only good npc, so far, was
HK. Just not in the mood for KOTOR 2 atm (though the game has been
absolutely bug and crash free, so far).

Wouldn't it be cool if you were George Bush in an RPG except that he's Cool
George Bush, (yeah they actually call him that, 'hey cool george bush!')
and he is like this alternative rock band singer and guitarist (because you
know guitarists are all cool) and he's like running around the globe
playing at anti-abortion charity concerts and stuff and then like Diablo
comes out and he's like GRRRR! and cool george bush is like BRING IT ON!
and so they like go mono ar mono you know and then cool george bush gives
Diablo the finger.

That would rock.

If you remove the word "George", it could almost be a tag line for a
GTA game...which is _nearly_ an RPG ;o)

What's not cool about a cocaine-snorting multi-millionaire partyguy
turned born-again war-president of the USA, with power over life and
death of any human on the planet, and total control over the political
and judicialsystem? He can get blowjobs from interns if he wants to,
or illegally attack small defenceless countries, as his troops control
both the media and what does and doesn't get investigated by
prosecutors. He can have anyone he wants incarcerated and tortured
without even suspecting them of having committed a crime, provided
they're not apprehended on US soil.

As close to absolute power anyone can get, or have ever gotten.

Sounds pretty cool to me.

Actually there are tough battles but because of what you are
you'll find at least one villian will go down easily and peons
will be easy as well. If you talk to some of your party members
enough you'll see why that one particular villian goes down
quickly.

You don't get into the Clash of the Titans type battles until you
get near the end. I'm not going to post any spoilers but I will
say one of the Sith lords you meet early on cannot be
destroyed. You probably know who it is.

Yeah, true, the game several times pulls the stunt of separating a PC
and having badguys set upon it. My high-dex low-str ranged-weapons
specialist rogue got particularly singled out,
<rot 13 encoded spoiler>
naq unq gb qhry na vafnar qhny-jvryqvat zryrr-fcrpvnyvfg Jbbxvr abg
bapr ohg gjvpr, naq nyfb unq gb pyrne bhg na ragver yriry bs fvgu nyy
nybar
</rot 13 encoded spoiler>.
As the rogue wasn't a jedi and had to rely on medical packs to recover
lost health, that was... well, more annoying than challenging, really.

IMO separating PCs from eachother in order to make later battles
challenging is pretty cheap.

The idea was to have your party PCs go through their own trials
and tribulations. Something personal to them.

I've just been waiting for him to show up in an orange sash.

But for the analogy to hold, Wolfowitz & Rumsfeld would have to buy a
cat and go to live in a hut on a small tropical island, which doesn't
seem very likely at the present time.
