Is this better than a wireless lan card?

My modem is one floor up and diagnal from me, would this be a better option? Been using wireless lan cards but is this better?

Hard to answer. Powerline networks are sensitive to the wiring in your house. And what level of wireless do you have...perhaps just an upgrade there.
