I am looking to purchase This motherboard for building a home router to be used either at home or wherever I go really. I intend to take advantage of the fiber ports and likely add a wireless card to it as well.

This will be a new project for me so as far as "needs" i don't care about, its will this work or won't it, and how well will it work.

All they really did was include a switch chip and fiber ports on the motherboard. It will be much simpler to use a external switch.

Can you make it work as a router is a hard question. Brands like this that are direct shipped out of china are tough to get good support for. It really depends how good the company supporting it is. Some just want to make a fast buck and do little to any customer support.

The key is can you get linux drivers for all the chips on the motherboard. Almost all pc based router are linux based. Microsoft makes some things just about impossible when you use windows so if it only has windows drivers for the motherboard chips you are not going to get very far.
