Is this budget desktop good for gaming?

Hello,

I haven't bought it yet, but all of the parts are in my shopping cart on Newegg.
I'll mostly be using it for gaming, browsing the internet, photoshop, and maybe video recording/editing.

Here are the specs:

I completely revised the build.

This you get the 6300 AND an aftermarket cooler. I dropped the 7850 down to a 7770 since you don't need it (assuming from the screenshot you gave us) which saved some money. You get a MUCH more up to date motherboard with a very good value. The CX600 is actually only able to provide up to 522W of the total 600W whereas before, with the CX500 it was only around 400 or so. Just to be safe I got you the 600.

That actually looks a lot like my first budget build. I would recommend an MSI 970A-G46 motherboard and an FX 6300 processor though, because the AM3 socket is outdated and you would have to upgrade your motherboard if you wanted to upgrade the CPU.

What you have there is fine though and should perform pretty well, in my budget build i had an HIS 7770 which i'd recommend because its really quiet and on max load it was at like 55 C.

I chose the motherboard that's in my list because of the good reviews, and the $50 price tag. Is that MSI mobo worth the extra $30?
Also, I thought AM3+ motherboards are good for upgrading.

About the HIS 7770, is it worth the extra $10? How do we know that the sapphire is not just as good?

The Phenom II x4 965 is socket AM3 and not AM3+, correct me if i'm wrong. Also, try to stay away from BIOSTAR like another person said here, they are known for cheaply made products and not so good customer support. The MSI board would be the way to go and is worth the extra money because you won't have to spend another $100-200 in the future on another board if you want a new AM3+ processor.

About the HIS 7770, for all I know the sapphire could end up being an even better card but from personal experience of owning the HIS i can tell you that it uses little power, runs very cool, and is very quiet most likely due to the iCooler technology.

EDIT: oh i'm sorry i thought that board was AM3 and not AM3+, but i would still stay away from BIOSTAR

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/DYn3 and here is a die-hard Intel build if you REALLY want it but I would stick to AMD. For the first build I mentioned, you can drop the DVD drive if you don`t need it and grab a Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo instead, which will allow you to overclock. For my 2nd and this build I did not include a DVD drive because I saw the OP`s first build and noticed that he did not include one.

I put together all of the suggestions that I've gotten, and created this.
I forgot to specify my budget, it was under $700 with rebates and shipping.
But this price needed to include the monitor/keyboard/mic.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127678 Get this one. It is clocked at 1100 CORE CLOCK, it will be faster than ANY 7770 Ghz Edition out of the box. It also features a very unique cooling solution. You can choose to have dual fans, single, or stacked fans. Highly recommend the card I linked. If you had to choose from the two, I would get probably get the MSI card since it features propeller blades which is supposed to give more airflow. Overclocking is all about stability and cooling.
