Is this build compatible?

Will work great! I'd suggest going up to 16GBs of ram. Sometimes you will need it. Any ram will do, just make sure its 1600MHz or over. I would be a good idea too to get 2x8GB sticks.

Get the 1TB version of the hard drive. For $5 more, you get almost 700GB extra space. Its well worth it.
Everything seems fine, 320GB HDD is a bit of an odd choice tho if you don't mind me saying. Also with only 1x120mm intake and 1x80mm exhaust + air cooled cpu your system is going to be running crazy hot because the 390x is gonna blow heat straight into your cpu.

I already own the case and hdd

Yeah the build seems solid except a few things. That geild ddr4 sticks at 3600 mhz for only 60 seem a bit too good to be true. The fact that you have such quality parts and such a non quality case is strange to say the least. Air flow is just as if not one of the most important things in a build.

You can have the greatest parts but if their so close together without adequate cooling you're just asking for trouble. Especially since the 390x tending to run on the hotter side.

Also, why the 320 gb hdd? Building on a budget? Maybe go for a different motherboard and invest into a better case. Or go down to a 390 and invest money into other parts of the build. I wouldn't recommend swapping cpu's as at least to my knowledge in the long run you're most likely to swap gpu's/psu's/ or ram before you do the case and cpu.

what case would you recommend in the 40 under price?
