So, i'm a console gamer switching over to pc gaming for the first time. I got a taste at a friend's house and fell in love. I wanted to buy a decent gaming PC, at a fairly low price ($600 max), and found this build on the internet:

i3 3240 3.4ghz dual core

4 gb ram (plan on upgrading)

GTX 660ti 2gb GDDR5 980mhz (1080 boost)

500gb of storage (Probably gonna upgrade)

the bitfenix collosus case

Windows 7 Home Premium OS

I did quite a bit of research around the site, and while I know the processor isn't quite the best, I knew this build was the best I was going to find for the price, especially since the GTX 660, while old, seems to be fairly well praised. I ended up spending 495 on this build, and will upgrade if needed. My question is, will I be able to get decent performance out of this build until I can afford an upgrade? Also, I've bought a monitor at 60hz and 5ms (couldn't afford better), and will be playing at 1600x900. I bought a Razer BlackWidow Chroma for my keyboard, but still need a mouse. I can afford the Logitech g402, but would really like to wait and get the g502 if I can. Any other suggestions on the mouse? Thanks in advance guys. Good to be on the dark side of gaming finally.

I run an Asus gtx660ti 2Gb on dual 1080p monitors and play heavily modded skyrim, enb and 130 mods to date, mostly 4k textures, all on ultimate max settings with 4x AA and still pull 64% usage on the gpu at most. Some will mock the card as being older and not all that powerful as compared to a 970 but it works wonderful for me and my games.

I use a logitec g110 kb with a really old dell USB mouse and couldn't be happier. I found that having too many buttons on the razor mouse I ride just got confusing, I was constantly getting game button settings confused, but then again, I'm coming from years of using a mouse left handed and a joystick in right - starseige and mech warrior series. Simple works for me.

Done buy a mouse cuz it's...

Thank you, but I've already bought the build i mentioned in the original post. I was more wondering if I would be able to play most modern games on at least medium at 1600x900 with my build.

At that resolution,yes.

Gameplay looks great in this video, but my concern is that this person is playing with an i7 gpu, not an i3.

But he was playing on 1080,you'll be playing on 1600x900 right? there won't be any lag in most of the games at that resolution on med-high settings i believe.
Also, the 960mhz is your GPUs stock clock speeds and it can be boost further upto 1080mhz by overclocking it.

Done buy a mouse cuz it's fancy, or looks cool or has a ton of customizable buttons. Get down to a best buy, microcenter or other electronics store a physically put your hands on the mice. Choose the one that fits you, your style and ultimately is comfortable in your hand. Nothing worse than dealing with a mouse you just don't like using.

Thank you so much! I ended up going with the Corsair Sabre optical, as Best Buy was having a pretty great deal on it ($49.99), and i've been testing it on my laptop doing school work until my PC arrives. I love the customizability, and its incredibly ergonomical. Not too many buttons, but enough to program some macros if i need to.

I would love to game with some of you guys if you have Steam. Coming over from the consoles, I have 0 friends on steam. Haha.
