I'm helping a friend built a budget PC. For the sake of his budget I went with a micro ATX case and motherboard and I've never played around with those so if there's any issues with fitting in the GPU or something please tell me. Also could someone recommend some good tutorials on building these micro-atx builds? Thanks.

This build is much better. You pay a little bit more but you gain quite a bit more performance.

Ryzen performes a noticable amount faster with faster ram (between 2133 and 3000mhz there is a 5-15% difference depending on the task).

The b350 board allows for a simple oc to 4ghz (which the stock cooler can handle just fine) with the built in auto oc for a nice performance boost.

He says he will be only using blender, unreal engine, and 1 or 2 small sized games. Have yet to heard of Coffee Lake, I'll check that out thanks. Though his budget is $700 so if they are expensive it may be a deal breaker in this build since this is already above his budget

thanks

if he has a local mico center look at there mb and combo deals. from leaks coffee lake k cpu are 20.00 more then older cpu. on his first build to save money use a locked cpu and micro atx mb. new coffee lake using newer chipsets. x300. if he can wait till dec or later go with the next intel or amd cpu and nvidia volta. with ram and new mb use two matched dimms. on the power supply 430w is to low for a gaming pc you want 500w-650w to be safe.

Well it's not necessarily a gaming PC, he wants to do mainly 3D modeling and rendering stuff. the PSU has wattage double the total estimated wattage of all the parts, it should be more than enough to cover all of the components. It seems that he doesn't really want to wait too long so he may stick with the ryzen 5 or coffee lake if it's not too expensive

in a pc you want a larger power supply. the sweet spot is loard a unti at 50 percent. if you loard it at 70-80 percent it going to run hot and loud. you also want some over head for cap aging. or swapping out to a higher end gpu. there are threas posted here daily of people runnig there new rigs and power supply dying as it was under sized for load placed on it.
