Is this build good for BF3?

System Usage from Most to Least Important: gaming


Parts Not Required: keyboard, mouse, monitor, speakers, OS , Power Supply Antec TPQ-850 850W, Video card: GTX 280(until i can buy the 590).


Preferred Website(s) for Parts: newegg.com but any other site thats cheaper and trusted is good too


Country of Origin: United States


Overclocking: Maybe depends on if i have good enough cooling for it.


SLI or Crossfire: Maybe in the future


Monitor Resolution: 1680x1050


Additional Comments: Id like to have it run bf3 in high quality if its possible, i know its not with this video card but this one is just a temp until later.

CPU Cooling: I do plan on overclocking but my room gets hot in the day time and that plus the overclocking temp might be too much to be ran air cooled so i think i need it to be water cooled not 100% sure.(hoping for some feedback).

And i really wouldn't recommend an Intel Motherboard with an i7-2600k. Especially at the Intel Board you listed uses a different socket type so wouldnt be compatible. You need to look for Socket 1155 (which is for SandyBridge CPU's). P67 or Z68 Chipset Recommended.

Anyways, upgrading to a GTX590 would be absolutely pointless with the monitor you have.

2600K has hyperthreading which will not help in games at all.

There's no point in overclocking your cpu unless you have 2 or 3 very high end video cards.

The motherboard you listed is not compatible with the cpu you chose, it's the wrong socket. You want P67 or Z68, not X58. You don't want a Intel board anyways.

Thanks for the quick response, the reason why i was going with intel was because i can get them for cheap i can get the i7 for around 150$

i wasn't so sure about the mobo but i just put it up now that ive read reviews and looked at the socket size im gonna have to go with a new one.

It was just a suggestion i was wanting to get a gtx 580 or up because thats what they shot the bf3 fault line video in.
Why would it be pointless, wouldent it run better or is the 590 for like 3 monitors etc?

Im just looking for a build that can run bf3 in high quality efficiently weather it be overclocking, running 2x gtx570s or higher.

Both are good mobo choices. I went with the gigabyte myself, but whichever of those you are more comfortable with would be fine.

Like I said earlier, a GTX590 or two of anything are completely pointless on that little monitor. Your just wasting your money.

If you dont have 1080p, that is where your money should go. Your not understanding its overkill in a way that is not improving your experience, 1080p or more would be much more of an improvement visually. I test out resolutions below 1080p and its like wow, awful.
