Solution
Abit cheaper motherboard will get you an SSD just like I said.
Looks like you're trying to do a black and red themed build.
So a black cooler would look better+quieter and better.

CPU: Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor ($209.99 @ Amazon)
CPU Cooler: be quiet! Dark Rock 3 113.8 CFM Fluid Dynamic Bearing CPU Cooler ($48.99 @ NCIX US)
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z97X-Gaming 5 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($129.99 @ NCIX US)
Memory: G.Skill Sniper Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-2400 Memory ($134.99 @ Newegg)
Storage: Crucial MX100 128GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($69.93 @ Amazon)...
Everything looks good. I would save a bit of money on the Motherboard unless you really have your heart set on the Maximus Hero. The i5 is great for gaming. I would also stay away from the Hybrid drive especially if you are going to the SSD later. The 970 will be a beast for a while.

Solution

Crucial is one of the best SSD's and I will not choose a V300 for any build.

Thanks for the help on the build.

Also, my friend says "I love you" for helping him out with this.

edit: yeah they should add a delete button XP
