Is this build good for gaming?

I just noticed the same problem. Thanks.

You better buy some 1600mhz RAM because anyway your motherboard will automatically set the speed to 1600mhz.

really? i did not see that. thanks. And yes, I will be gaming at 1080p but i want this system to serve me for a long time and I also have a asus vg248qe monitor that goes up to 144hz.

A 144Hz monitor is a good reason for a 980, definitely.

As far as the RAM, if you're trying to keep your color theme, I know there is some 1600MHz RAM with the blue heatsink.

something with the same color would be nice but are you sure the motherboard does not support this? Hundreds of people have already used this build. check out the youtube vid where I found this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iO5U6vBvmx4

I know.... OOO this scrub got something from youtube. but hey. This will be the first time I pick parts for my pc and I don't want to mess this up. I have built 2 pc's in the past but they were all for friends.

You really should get a better PSU.

I would stick with the Ram you selected. Like tiny voices just said, it will work just fine, but not at its full capability of 2400mhz. It will just be down clocked to the highest speed the motherboard is capable of. And then in the future, if you upgrade your system, you can reuse the ram because it will be fairly fast at the time.

why? what's wrong with the corsair one?

Pretty bad quality ESPECIALLY for a PC like this. Get something better FOR SURE. The PSU is the single most important part of the PC and NEVER to be skimped on.

What would you guys suggest as another PSU? Also I would just like to know why "The PSU is the single most important part of the PC and NEVER to be skimped on" and why it is bad.

The PSU has to provide power within VERY small margins to each part. IF the power spec goes out of range even a little bit, the entire system can be completely fried (read bricked and worthless). This is why a quality PSU is important. When a low end PSU fails, it is VERY likely to fry the entire PC with it (happens all the time). When a high end PC fails (rarely happens) it will not damage any components.

The CX units form Corsair use junk capacitors and fail easily when they get warm. They are not good units and not recommended.

get an Antec, XFX, Seasonic unit instead.

Believe it or not stable power, and enough power is needed to power all of your pc components, a bad quality psu does not supply enough stable power usually, and tends to fail within a year-5years, as opposed to in my experiences such as an Antec lasting me 14.5 years even when heavy overlocked.

That antec psu 430 watts ran for 14 years like brand new, not a single hint of failing until those last few months. I saw no point in replacing a psu in a system that was just as old as the psu.
