Hey everyone, my brothers old computer from 2003 finally gave up, and after talking with my brother, we have decided to build a computer. Since I built my first gaming computer, it was easy to do, so I took over and wanted to know if this build will do all the things he needs.
He still wants to stay with windows XP, so I built this computer from PCpartpicker, and here's the list.
I7 4770 (no K):http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/part/intel-cpu-bx80646i74770
Stock cooler, or a h80i : http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/part/corsair-cpu-cooler-h80i
ASUS h87m : http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/part/asus-motherboard-h87me
Corsair 16gb memory : http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/part/corsair-memory-cmz16gx3m2a1600c10
A OCZ vertex 4 : http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/part/ocz-internal-hard-drive-vtx425sat3128g
WD Black HDD 1TB: http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/part/western-digital-internal-hard-drive-wd1002faex
MSI gtx 760: http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/part/msi-video-card-n760tf2gd5oc
Corsair 350D case : http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/part/corsair-case-cc9011028ww
Corsair CX600M PSU: http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/part/corsair-power-supply-cx600m
So in total, it's coming to a 1400$ build http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/2lMP5
The i7 CPU is good for work purposes, mastercam can take advantage of those 4 cores, + the hyperthreading. And I have seen some other forums saying any autocad programs will eat a lot of ram, so 16gb and a i7 cpu will be pretty future proof. He has the SSD and WD black HDD.
Will windows xp run on all these new hardware? I know XP support will be gone in April, but we're still talking about the idea to have windows 7 instead.
If anyone has a better suggestion, and works in the AUTOcad field, some advice will help out
