Hey everyone, I'll get right to it. I need a new build for getting my feet wet (Not for professional use atm) with animation, modeling, rendering and editing both in 3d and 2d, with the end goal of getting serious with it in a few years. For now I just want to be able to run most of the required applications and processes comfortably at the beginner level, but with the possibility of upgrading to higher end components (mainly CPU and GPU as I understand it, maybe even ram) once the need arises
I am starting from scratch with no components on my hands and with an approximate budget of ~1250 euro.
This is the build I am going for
I've been researching the parts, their compatibility and their issues, all with an eye to the future and possible upgrades
• GPU (@ 300€)
I went with Nvidia mainly for all the mentions that it works much better with all the creative apps. As for why the 3060, it was a combination of its bus speed and vram along with the fact that I can get it for about 300euro. The next cheapest 12gb Nvidia GPU has at least double that.
I though about going for a more powerful 8gb GPU, but I though I am better off doing things a bit slower than not being able to do it depending on complexity and a lack of ram. Maybe I'm overestimating my needs and 8gb will be sufficient?
I was considering a 4060ti since I can get it for about 150euro more and it offers 4 more gb of vram but I've heard mixed things based on its bus speed of 128 and I don't think it's worth it at this stage, for my kind of use (but I could be mistaken).
One thing I don't know or couldn't find any concrete answers to, is if the combo of this GPU with the 7700x CPU will somehow cause problems to one another with bottlenecks for my intended apps or whatnot.
• CPU (@ 289€)
I went with AMD because of all the warnings to not buy 13/14th gen Intel (although I was told those were being/have been addressed), plus as I understand it, AMD CPUs at my level are more cost effective than Intel. Also with upgrading in a few years in mind, and considering I'll probably buy an already existing AM5 CPU (7900x3d and above), I chose AMD. Is this logic sound or am I missing something?

Came Highly recommended and from what I could find, it fits nicely in the case and has enough clearance for rams with my specific motherboard
• MOTHERBOARD (@ 155€)
From what I gathered it's a very descent MOBO that is compatible with all my current pieces plus possible future upgrades, has a good variety of i/o options and other than some post time issues that I see are in mainly all am5 MOBOs and can be fixed with some bios tweaking, it seems like a solid option. Not sure if it would make sense to go for a more expensive one.
• RAM (@ 113€)
Here is where I am skeptical. I know that more ram is always better with creative works, and I think that 32gb is good enough for starting out, but would I be able to go from 2x16 to 4x16 if I want an upgrade down the line, or are 4 DIMMS not recommended and I should instead go for 2x32 from the start and save having to sell the 2x16 kit?
As for the specific ram chosen, it seems like a good fit for my MOBO and I've only read good reviews about it.
• STORAGE (@ 66 + 106€)
I am thinking one fast 1/2tb SSD for work/OS and one 2tb HDD for long term storage of media. Both options came highly recommended with good reviews. I was thinking about maybe adding another smaller SSD to separate the OS from work, but I am not sure if it's worth it yet. If I did I would probably go with a Samsung 970 evo plus at either 250 or 500gb.
• PSU (@ 100€)
At am torn between a few choices here. I don't think I can go wrong with any of the tier A psu list options and I've tried to stay in that bracket but not overspend. All the calculators that I tested say that I won't need more than ~500watt with my current setup (I'll change psu if I change gpu&cpu) so I think a 750w psu is more than enough.
With that in mind I am looking at fully modular ones with quiet fans that don't report many issues.
So far I have these picked and priced:
- Corsair RM RM750 80+ Gold White @ 100 €
- Corsair RM750x 80+ Gold 2021 @ 104 €
- CoolerMaster MWE V2 750W 80+ Gold @ 113 €
- Thermaltake ToughPower GF3 1000W 80+ Gold @ 144€
I considered going for the 1000w Thermaltake so that maybe I won't have to upgrade when I upgrade my CPU/GPU but I am not sure. It's not that I've heard bad things about it, it's just that I've heard a few more gripes people have with its noise levels and build quality over the others.

I am probably going to wait on the purchases until after all the Xmas craze. But I would really like to get your input/suggestions/objections to my list.
