Hi,

I'm thinking of building a PC to get back into creativity and build up my portfolio to stay relevant for my career aspirations.

I will be using this for graphic design and web development but mainly video/photo editing and would like to game as well.

To keep around my budget I've managed to come up with this:

NZXT H500 (£67.79)

R5 2600X w/ stock cooler (wraith spire) (£178.97)

Strix X470-F (£184.79)

Corsair LPX 3000mhz 16GB (£109.19)

Strix RX 580 TOP OC 8GB (£248.99)

Samsung 860 EVO 500gb SSD (£78)

WD 1TB HDD (36.95)

Corsair TX750M (£89.58)

2x ML120 exhaust fans (£15.33ea)

2x ML140 intakes (£18.99ea)

Total for parts and delivery charges comes to £1,099.05

Is this good value for the parts or nah?

Many thanks.

Photo an video editing, I would probably go with a Ryzen 7 instead. You can get a 1700 for less money than a 2600x. You will also be easily be able to upgrade to Ryzen 3000, when they are released.

CPU: AMD - Ryzen 7 1700 3 GHz 8-Core Processor (£154.99 @ Aria PC)
CPU Cooler: be quiet! - Shadow Rock Slim 67.8 CFM Rifle Bearing CPU Cooler (£37.70 @ More Computers)
Motherboard: Asus - ROG STRIX B450-F GAMING ATX AM4 Motherboard (£116.95 @ AWD-IT)
Memory: Corsair - Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3000 Memory (£101.36 @ More Computers)
Storage: Crucial - MX500 500 GB M.2-2280 Solid State...
It is a good build with solid parts, but you could save a little money in a few places. You dont need a 750 watt PSU for the rig. A quality 550 watt unit from Corsiar, EVGA, or Seasonic will be just fine. But there is nothing wrong with going with a 750watt unit either, they just usually cost a little bit more.

Also, you dont have to have a x470 motherboard, you could go with a cheaper b450 board and will still suit your needs. The x470 supports multi GPU and can overclock a little better than the b450, but unless you are really hard core overclocking or looking for multi GPU setups, there is not really a need for the x470. The MSI B450 Tomahawk is a good board. The Asrock B450 Pro4 is a good budget board that will be a lot cheaper than the board you picked.
